Instead of laughing, for a moment, Midnight almost looked horrified.
She had never pictured Caerwyn falling in love with anybody, or even finding a mate even if it was strictly just for the support of the pack. The more she thought about, the more territorial she became. She didn't want anybody else to take him away... After a brief pause, she, too, laughed, this time with faked confidence and only slightly awkward.
"N-no one? No one has their eye on you?" she asked, sending him a strange look. She hoped she didn't look or sound desperate, but now she was starting to realize what all of these feelings meant to her; the jealousy, the fear, the emtoinal attatchment... She had feelings for Caerwyn, feelings that she knew she had no real chance with unless she did something with herself. "Are you sure about that?" she ventured, giving him a small smile.

{HAHAHAHA}
"Heheh. Yeah," she replied, giving him a slightly confused look. Was she talking too much? Did boys like it when girls talked too much? She wasn't sure, but she decided to cut down on the rambling. She had such a habit to do that... Just like her mother. Curse you today, Mother. "Soo..." she sighed, looking around them for a few moments, blinking her thoughtful, yellow eyes. She was looking for something to talk about, but found nothing. So, she decided to try some flattery instead. "You really look like an alpha of Dancing Stars," she said with a smile. "You must be getting the hang of it, right?" She sat back with her rump in the snow, staring into his dark eyes as they glimmered with such intimidation... Actually, she was quite surprised she wasn't scared of the tall dark and handsome Caerwyn, considering how powerful and intimidating he really looked. (boo)

{-has never watched or read Harry Potter- o.o}
Feeling rather nervous, which seemed out of character for her these days, Midnight glanced quickly behind her at the piles of misshapen snow, where she had been prancing about like a boso. She looked back at him and chuckled nervously. When was the last time she had done anything useful around here? Ohh, crap, man, she had made a promise to help Caerwyn out and she had been slacking off and now he probably thought she was... Clearing her throat, she gave her delayed answer. "Ohh, yes, well... I've been... Doing the same thing? Well, not really the same thing, because I'm not the alphess, but, I mean, I'm trying to." After a quick moment, her face contorted into confusion once she realized what that had sounded like, and she tried to correct herself. Before she did that, however, she made herself take a deep breath to calm her nerves, and forget about her own self-concious downs. "I meant I've been trying to do as much as I can without getting in the way. I'm still trying to find something I'm good at..."
With that deep breath, she felt better. What was with that, anyways? This was the first time she had ever been fidgety around Caerwyn. She used to be able to tell him anything without any complications! Were she and Caerwyn going to grow much more apart from now on? She dearly hoped not; though she hid it from most, her friendship with Caerwyn was precious to her... She wouldn't let herself become a dunce in front of him, not anymore, if that meant they would grow apart in adulthood.
Putting a sincere smile on her face, she managed a tail wag though her pounding heart. "I can't believe how things are working out now! Getting the lake was a blessing for us!" She shivered, however, when she remembered what had happened only a day or so earlier, with her, Roan, and Leia. She assumed Caerwyn had already heard about it from his brother. "Except, of course, when you might fall in through the ice." She chuckled quietly.

When Midnight sat up to stand, her head swiveled and she suddenly caught eye of Caerwyn's familiar face. It was an immediate joy to see him, although he looked rather confused, as if he was trying to make a decision. She stood up and shook some of the snow off of her fur, hoping secretly to herself that there wasn't still some all over her face, making her look like a fool. Ahh, but Caerwyn wasn't that type of guy... Right?
Smiling kindly, she sprinted closer towards him, dashing through the snow (in a one horse, open sleigh!) and sending a flurry on both of her sides. "Hey, Caerwyn! How are you?" she asked him, reaching with her nose to give him a respectful nudge on the chin. At least, that was what she told herself it was for. "Have you been busy lately?" She frowned as she thought about something. Hopefully Caerwyn didn't think she was slacking off by playing in the snow... Or maybe she was just being too hard on herself? Her mind was racing a mile a minute and she realized she had a hard look on her face, so she quickly replaced it with another bright smile.

My goodness, the snow was everywhere now that the clouds had screamed out their fluff! It felt good against her pawpads, yes, but after a day or two of exploration, it only made them numb and raw.
With her cold nose to the wet ground, Midnight brushed away the white flakes and tested just exactly how much snow had fallen. By the time her numb nose banged against frozen ground, the snow was up to her ear bases. She pulled her face away, and, covered in snow, she laughed at herself.
She liked the snow. It was fun to romp in.
She began to run across the treeless path, her large paws keeping majority of her legs above the snow. It must be easy to hunt in the snow, too! Just roll around in it and look like a giant snowball... She would try out the technique sometime.
Turning in another direction, she let her legs give out and she thumped into the piles of frozen water, laying their silently for a few moments. She might be a full-grown female now, but she still had some puppish moments. Didn't every wolf?

Watching the female jump from log-to-log made her heart skip a beat. Midnight followed in Leia's footsteps, but only because her motherly instincts told her to stay close in case an accident happened. "Leia, don't do that. You could fall," she growled firmly, telling the female that she really meant it. "The murky stuff below is like quicksand. It may be impossible to get you out if you fell in."
Please listen, please listen, she thought to herself, hoping the same thing wouldn't happen to Leia as it did to Roan.

Midnight sighed quietly, thinking of her current self and of her younger days. Did she really eye the males like a lot of others did? She didn't necessarily think so, but she had to admit, there might be something between her and another wolf... She wasn't sure. "I wouldn't worry to much about your sisters. It's just the way most us girls are! It's natural. Besides, if you had a brother, he'd be even worse around the females," she chuckled, curling her tail in humor and reassurance. "And as for your friends, you should just talk to more and more of the pack. You'll get plenty of friends soon enough!" She secretly smiled at the small list of Leia's friends.

"Heh, I have a brother named Shade. Considering yourself fortunate that you have sisters, and not brothers!" Midnight tried to picture Leia's parents, and they came to mind right away. She had kind parents, which most likely explained this pup's kind attitude. Midnight loved kind wolves the most. She sighed and glanced around, sitting back comfortably on her haunches. The wind was still blowing quite strongly, and as the black female looked back towards Leia, she wondered if the gusts would get powerful enough to knock either one of them over? She didn't think so, especially for herself. She may be small, but she was full-grown. "Well, you'll see Kitty soon enough, I'm sure. Families grow apart eventually. Well, who do you play with in Dancing Stars? Got any best friends?"

"So true! Well, if I fall, I'll scream really loud, and if you fall, do the same thing! Just in case either of us don't notice," Midnight said kindly, c0cking her head a bit to the left. As the subject had turned around, Midnight realized she forget to answer her new friend's question. "My mother is Sukalina, and my father... Well, he's passed away, but his name was Shaddix." She did not look sad at all, but instead perked her ears forward as she asked Leia the same question. "And what's your families' names?"

It was an unexpected meeting, and Midnight was lost deep in thought, so when Leia spoke out to her, it surprised her rather greatly. Her swiftly turned on her heels, almost slipping off an edge of the tree, and regained balance, tail lifted as a warning. She took a deep, relieved breath to see it was just one of her own, nothing to worry about. She had seen Liea before, but never spoke to her. She wasn't surprised that the pup didn't know her name; Midnight wasn't exactly a role model to the pups! "Hello, Liea! My name is Midnight." She smiled kindly at the female, studying her qualities. She seemed a tad bit shy. Midnight had been like that when she was younger, but eventually she grew out of her shell. But maybe Leia would just always be shy? Some were like that. But when Midnight realized where this young one had wandered, she scrunched up her face and frowned. "Say, what are you doing out here? It's dangerous if you fall... In fact, I probably shouldn't be here alone, either," she said, a bit embarassed. She wasn't showing such a good example to others... Even those just the tiniest bit younger than herself.

She knew the Marshlands were a dangerous place for a small female like her, but Midnight found that she actually enjoyed the suspense and excitement of the imposing danger. It made her feel brave as she walked across the dead zig-zagging trees, using her steady paws and her fluffy black tail for balance. It wasn't necessarily a sight to marvel about, but during her days of exploration, the pretty wolf found that at the right times of day, this muddy and seemingly full-of-death place came to life. The orange or pink sunlight filtered through the thick treetops, dappling colorful lights all around the forest and making the birds so happy that they began to sing.
Unfortunately, it was not one such morning where the birds were active and the weather was beautiful. In fact, today looked promising for snow, or maybe even sleet, if it got warm enough later in the day. It was dark out because of the clouds, and the wind chill was enough to freeze your claws off! At least, however, the mudd below Midnight was an insulator and collected heat throughout the days, and the huge trees around these parts helped break much of the wind. Midnight was glad for that.
Blinking her yellow eyes softly, she studied the treetops and listened to the rustling of leaves and the howling of strong winds. Midnight had grown out of all traces of her puphood, and was a fully-grown adult female, in her prime and ready to start her life in the fullest. Her coat was glossier than ever, and she had put on some natural weight now that the prey was back in these parts. She was so happy that her family wasn't starving anymore. Nobody was as miserable as they had been, back then. She closed her eyes as a gust of wind managed to make its way through the openings.
If that dam hadn't broken... We'd have been dead by now.
The sound of a squirrel chattering in a nearby tree drew Midnight our of her grateful thoughts, and she stared at the sky for a few more moments before looking forward and beginning to walk again. She imagined she was a hero on an adventure, forced to walk a dangerous and slippery pathways where, if she fell into the depths below, she'd be eaten by blood-thirsty Falling Moon wolves...

{ WHAT? Never been in love? D: OMG, I feel you are both deprived and blessed... } Watching Topaz's courage escape pretty much wiped out Midnight's courage, too. She watched her sprint away, exhaling a breath, before slowly turning back to Caerwyn with a humbled expression. It realy wasn't the end of the world, she realized, by why did it feel like it was the end of her world? And it wasn't even her who was in the real awkward situation. She shamefully bowed her head before her alpha. "Umm.. Maybe you... Should go talk to her?" she suggested, looking back up at him with an emotionless expression. "I think she meant what she said!"She took a step back, waiting to be excused or unexcused.

Between Topaz's confession and Caerwyn's sudden appearance, Midnight's stomach did a flip-flop. This had just happened way too fast. Her eyes widened, frozen on Caerwyn's face, before she swallowed and checked Topaz's situation. She, too, look flabberghasted. "Uhhmm, uhhh, I'm sorry," she said meekly to Topaz, feeling like this was her fault. Her had just cracked, too, and time was frozen. So, there were other females who had their eye on Caerwyn, and unfortunately for Midnight, she had only just know realized what her heart was telling her. She felt stupid, actually.

Midnight felt relieved, for it actually came as something embarassing to her when she had to act like towards those she considered family. She smiled sweetly at Topaz, knowing how nice of a wolf her friend really was. "Well, for me... For me, things are okay. I really have nothing to complain about," she honestly said, although deep down she had a feeling there were going to be some confusing times ahead. But, as she had admitted to herself, they were the same-old same-old things, and she had no excuse to feel sorry for herself. So much more and more like her mother, she realized.
"But what about you? You look like something's on your mind?" she ventured, tiliting her glossy head questioningly. "Don't tell me if you don't want to. I've never been one to enjoy butting into other's buisness," she said with a sigh, glancing over at the lake with a thoughtful expression. She wondered, suddenly, where Quartz was, considering the twins were as close as Skulls and Crossbones themselves.
