Slowly, the brute wandered to the river, watching his step and limping, still suffering from his earlier battle for his new position. He turned back to look at the multi-hued fae who was following him. He had to apologize, of course, for he wouldn't know how he would live with himself. He had already buried Key's body, but his heart told him there was something more to be done.
His ears picked up the sound of moving water, and he knew the river was melting quickly. Spring was definately here, or at least on the way. He stopped, finally, his side throbbing with a slight pain because his rib hadn't completely healed yet. Stepping to the bank of the river, muddy and still covered with melting snow, he looked around before dipping his head into the water, waiting for Dagger.

Dagger followed Josiah to the river, she didn't need to remember the way, she just let his orange and white pelt guide her. It wasn't that she didn'tknow the way, she just wanted to think of other things, not the way to the river - as lazy as that may sound.
She heaved a sigh when she reached the river with Josiah, she didn't really feel thirsty, so she watched him drink. She wanted to say sorry to him, she wanted to say sorry for being weak at the Beta fight, but that would make her look weaker...

He lifted his head up, water dripping from his maw as he looked at the black and brown fae. It hadn't occured to him how different she looked until that moment, with her brown ears and left foreleg, and her speckled body. Looking at his surroundings, he noticed how mushy the snow was getting, and he yearned for it to be spring, to see te new flowers and for even better hunting. And how their pack would explode with pups. He knew if it was anything like last year, there would be many new faces around.
Sitting back on his haunches, he looked up at the gray sky, feeling a slight breeze blowing that sent a chill down his back, reminding him that it was still winter. His words were barely audible as he spoke. I am sorry he's dead...I'm sorry that I was the cause of it...his formal apology was now out, besides the burial. All he could do was wait.

Dagger shook her head, 'No, no, don't...' she said slowly, 'I'm sorry for the stupid things I said at the Beta fight...' she added.
She, too, looked around at the mushy snow, she wished it would just melt. She wasn't looking forward to the pups, it would remind her of Key... She hated pups anyway.
'How're you an Misery?' she asked off-handedly, trying to make some sort of conversation.

Josiah gave a wince, that name floating his his head like a bad memory. He looked away, seeming to blank out for a moment as he wondered where she had run off too. He hadn't seen her in ages, and it hurt him still. Shaking his head, he kept his gaze away from the fae. There is no me and Misery. I haven't seen her in ages. She seems to have disappeared. His voice was cold, and showed a slight sign of pain, though he wouldn't admit it. In truth, he didn't want anyone to know he was hurting inside, whenever her name came up.

'Oh...I'm ur...Sorry...' she said slowly. 'What about Almira? You to seem to really...hit it off...' she smirked and chuckled, unable to keep in the laughter.
'No offence to her, but I think you could do better than Almira...' she said coldly, she hated Almira with a passion, she would hate to see Josiah and her get together, she didn't know why though.
She thought, 'So...No-one else special in you life?' she asked, trying to make conversation.

An eyebrow was raised as he heard laughter coming from her direction. He turned to inspect her, and saw she didn't seem able to control herself. He tilted his head as heard her words, shrugging them off casually. We're...aquaintances. Nothing more, he said, trying to play it off cooly. He did like Almira, but he wouldn't let Dagger know that.
He looked at her curiously, his green pools calm and focused on the dappled fae. No, no one special. Just family and friends..He wondered what her sudden interest in his love life was about, but decided not to think too much of it. For now.

She grunted disbeliavingly, then stared out at the river. She wondered what it was like to love, to want something or someone so much you would die for them... Die for someone? Dagger had never even thought to do that. She wanted to live, she wanted to come out on top.
Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing, but it was Dagger. She realised shen she thought of Onisim and Key she didn't feel anything anymore. Perhaps beneath all this it was because she so desperatly wanted to love she ended up fooling herself...
She heaved a sigh, 'What's it like to love?' she asked. Josiah had friends and family, and he had loved Misery... Dagger had no-one, she killed her brother, she and Anevay killed her nephew and nieces mother...And she had no-one to call a friend.
She felt so lonely.

A solemn looked crossed the male's face as he took his time to think about it. It was such a strong feeling, hard to describe in just a few mere words. He sighed, then took a deep breath before speaking slowly. Well, it's not easy, if that's what you think. It's so strong, you feel it more than say or think it. That one somebody is constantly all you think about..how they're doing, are they okay, are they having fun? You never want to see them hurt, because then you're hurt as well...and when they're happy, no one else could feel as on top of the world as you do. In a way, you feel like you're flying when you're with them, and everything seems right and eventually falls into place...even when you argue, you can't be mad for long, because you know it would be too much pain and too unbearable to think of being without them in your life.
He took a pause, looking out across the river that was flowing ever-so slightly, but speeding up every few minutes. He collected his thoughts, then pressed on. I don't know if you've ever been lonely Dagger, but you have that feeling of never being alone when you love someone, because they're always in your heart and on your mind. You feel whole, and you have them to lean on through thick and thin, and you're ready and willing to be there for them, no matter the cost. You're world is just so...much happier and carefree...when you're in love..his voice trailed off.

Dagger frowned, she'd never expected it to be so complicated, now she thought about it she realised she'd never been in love. She wanted to be, though, it sounded amazing. She figured every wolf had someone for them out there, but Dagger never seemed to get it right, she always seemed to get a fight rather than a mate when she started a conversation. She knew that was her fault, and she knew she should do something about it, but she was Dagger, and that was her excuse for everything.
'Wow...' was all she could muster. She wanted to know more about love, she wanted Josiah to tell her who would love her, she wanted Josiah to tell her who she loved.
She sighed, he would never know. What could she say now? She was at a loss for words.
'I wish I was in love...'

He looked on, her words registering in his head, but he was only half listening as he thought about his antics with Misery. He suddenly felt colder, more alone one could say. Josiah almost let out a saddened whimper, but held it in as he turned to face the fae, who he had been yelling at for being selfish only the day before. It was strange, seeing this usually over-dramatic, headstrong fae act like this.
He wondered what had gotten into her lately.Maybe it was the fact that spring time was rolling around soon. The knowledge that it would be time to mate, and pups would be here was obvious. But Josiah hadn't figured Dagger to fall for all of that, muchless now since Key was gone. He coughed nervously, wondering how to handle the situation. You'll find it one day Dagger, don't worry about that. When you truly love someone, you can be yourself around them more than anybody else, and they'll accept you for who you are, if they love you back. He gave her a warm smile, trying to cheer her up.
