Reflections cutting every face in two The sun was rising slowly and sad eyes watched it. He remembered when he watched it rise with Carmine, it made him feel happy and secure, like he had something to protect, not just his brother. Roan had heard that Midnight was now Caerwyn's mate. Roan hardly knew the female, but knew she was Sukalina's daughter, and Sukalina was, and still is, a good friend of Quianna. Mother...
Roan's shoulders sagged. The last time they had spoken was when he was at the border with Vixen. Vixen. He frowned. If she didn't ask him to help, then they wouldn't be having this awkward non-mother-son relationship. Roan closed his eyes, calming down quickly and he opened them again, watching the sun. The scene was so much more beautiful in his memory, but Roan forced a smile so he didn't seem too sad. He didn't want to look sad for the others, it was spring! Spring meant pups. Casting shadows in the pale shade of blue He stood up, moving away from his spot on the Solitary mountains and began to travel again, thinking his life over. Roan was thankful Xaka finally accepted him, but he no longer felt a rush of sadness fall over him at the thought of his old alpha and father-figure. Instead, he just felt proud and was reminded of Caerwyn. He looked a lot like Xaka. Oh, happy days.
Roan looked up, just in time to jump over a rock he would have tripped over and the wolf slowly made his way down from the mountains, wondering if he'd meet someone on the way.

Wheya padded up the solitary mountains, here eyes twinkling in the morning sunrise. She heaved a sigh of content, she felt so happy at the moment. She didn't mind not having a mate, it was spring, yes, but she loved to be free, and having a mate might tie her down. If she ever found a mate, she wanted him to be as care-free and as wild as herself. Her thoughts were interuppted when she saw a sad-looking wolf. Awww... she didn't like it when other's were upset, it made her unhappy.
She padded over to him, watching him attempt to smile. 'Hey...' she greeted him softly, offering him a warm smile.

Roan stopped. He knew he'd meet someone, but he didn't recognise her and by her small smile and soft voice he knew she was a loner. "Hi." he said back, his smile genuine this time. He didn't want to trouble others, especially this female he didn't know. Who was she? She seemed very open and outgoing, seeing as she came up to him like that and said 'hey' out of the blue.
Roan looked at the ground shyly, then back at the female. "My name's... Roan." he greeted. Hopefully his shyness wouldn't make her back up. What if she was out hunting for mates? Roan would be a bad choice, he knew it. Roan hesitated, blinking and he looked at the sun that had now rose. It made his smile widen and he looked back at Wheya. "Who're you?"

'Roan...' she said, her lips moving slowly, as she stared at the ground, thinking very hard about the name. She looked back up at him, and gave him a grin, 'Nice name!' she said, as if she always tested names like this. She watched him cafeully, a frown on her brow, but she soon smiled again when she saw him lighten up.
'The name's Wheya.' she told him, 'What're you doing out here?' she asked pleasently, watching him cheerfully. Not much could make Wheya sad, but if it was anything, it was seeing someone else sad.

"That's a good question," came a friendly voice, just behind Wheya. Another female stepped forward, sat her rump down in the dirt, and smiled. It was Midnight. "Long time, no see, Roan," she said to her friend, remebering mostly the time they had all fallen into the ice. Lots of memories.
She glanced at Wheya. She knew who this wolf was, but not who this wolf was. As in, she didn't know her very well. "And hello, Wheya. How are you two doing, anyway?"

Roan opened his mouth to reply, but a familiar voice came from behind Wheya and he smiled at Midnight, nodding to her respectfully. He also remembered the moment in the ice, and it made his body cold. Thank goodness it was Spring! "Hi, Midnight." he greeted before shrugging slightly to answer their question, but knew a shrug wouldn't be enough, "I was just out exploring... What about you both? Of course, you're a loner, which would probably be why you're out here... That was pretty obvious, so..." he stammered, and looked down.
He had opened up once before, Roan wasn't the shy wolf and now he was. It must have been a phase.

Midnight smiled at the older Roan. He was always cute when he acted like this. Secretly she wondered to herself how she never had any feelings for Roan before she had actually fell entwined with Caerwyn. She supposed that she just became so wrapped up into the Alpha even the very first time they had met. Her smile disappeared slightly as she glanced back at Wheya, and her tail flew up quite a bit higher. Was this female at one point a Dancing Star? She wasn't sure, but... Her personality just seemed so...
"Wheya, right?" she asked the loner, giving her a nod of her furry, black head.
