You are my sweetest downfall
Silky red paws pushed deep into the dirt littering naturally along the mountainside, as Eveline padded carefully and sadly along the base of Half Moon Mountain. Every day she felt more and more useless. Eyelle had wolves after her, she barely saw Leia anymore, and Jasmyn seemed to be awfully elusive too. Then there was Crossbones.
I loved you first, I loved you first
She felt the love of her life, that silly grey wolf, in her heart she knew they'd grown apart long ago. Since Debi died, Crossbones had been needed by Skulls. Eveline didn't mind falling through the cracks, she always expected he'd come back to her eventually and reassure her she was still loved.
Beneath the stars came falling on our heads
It was a sad night, the frost of early spring stinging the pads of her paws as her eyes filled with hot salty tears. It was a sad night. Realising he'd never come back to her and reassure he he loved her. What they'd once shared, romping by the lakeside, raising the girls together, starry nights in their eyes- it was all fading in Eveline's mind and ripping her heart in two.
But they're just old light, they're just old light.
And that is why, when the territorial bear loped towards her in the brilliant moonlight, she didn't stop crying tears for the wolf she still loved. Until she hit the ground with a claw carved across her heart and a scar beneath her beautiful two-tone face. She didn't stop crying until the very end, when the bear loped away and out of sight.

ooc| ;-;
Bic| Horror. Eveline's cold body reflected of his wide eyes as he slowly made his way there, but all that was shown in his eyes was horror. Surely she was alive, surely she survived... A terrible feeling washed over him as Roan stopped next to Eveline's body. Not Eveline, poor, poor Eveline...
A soft whine escaped him and he nudged her cheek gently before looking at where the bear left, then back at the, now gone, female. If he had just came earlier, then he could have saved her... But what use was Roan? A certain sadness ran through him, Roan was useless. He let out a shaky sigh before looking at the sky, ears pinned against his skull, and he let out a soft, melodious howl.
It told everyone what, and who, he had discovered. How would Crossbones react? This made him feel even more guilty, and his head dropped. Roan listened to his howl echo. At least it was pretty.

Eyelle's paws skittered and skidded on the mountainside at the sound of Roan's mournful howl. Surely he was lying, playing a joke, having a laugh. Surely I still have a mother she thought desparately, but deep down she knew that Eveline was gone. Gone forever.
What was the last thing I said to her? Eyelle thought, panicked, as her heart began to beat very fast. She replayed every moment they'd ever embraced, laughed together, cried together. Did I tell her I loved her?
She slipped but regained her balance, desparately, hysterically running. She didn't care that she was breathless. She reached Roan and her mother's cold lifeless body and she broke down into painful hysterics, something Eyelle had never done before. Usually so calm, so collected.
Everything was falling apart.

Leia was grooming her golden brown fur, when she heard Roan's howl. Her ears perked and she listened to his melody. When it finished, she had the message. She ran to the source. Ran to it so quickly her pads were bleeding. Her eyes stung from the cold wind, and her salty tears sizzled on the frosty ground.
She ran to her mother. She could smell the bear on her. She licked the top of her mother's head. "Mother... Mother wake up..." She said quietly, as she began to nudge her head. She looked up at Eyelle with tear filled eyes, then she shifted her gaze to Roan. She looked then back down at her mother's body. "D-did either of you see what actually happened? I know there was a bear, but.." She said, her voice breaking every now and then.

Crossbones heard the howl but didn't understand it. However, he knew it was something of deadly importance, something he needed to know. Without a second glance at Skulls, he skidded towards the melancholy sound, grey paws drumming against the ground. What was going on?
"Brother, wait!" Yelled Skulls, as he made an effort to depserately follow his twin. However, Crossbones had never run so fast in his life, and Skulls was left trailing behind long before they reached the site of Eveline's death.
As he came within sight of the body, Crossbones knew immediately who it was. Not because he could see her very well, but because his intuition was telling him. He drew closer, seeing no-one but Eveline. "No," He moaned, his voice hoarse with sobs, "It can't be!"

Eyelle threw herself down, sobbing into the sticky bloodied fur beneath her mother's face. It seemed as if she had made no effort to stop the bear attack, and that scared Eyelle more. There was a huge gash under her jawline and across her chest.
Eyelle heard their father arrive and scrunched up her face with the emotional pain. She wanted to scream at him, at Leia, at Roan. She wanted to blame someone, but she couldn't.
"No, no..." Eyelle sobbed, not caring how dramatic she looked or sounded.

She heard the painful howls and sobs, and her own heart wrenched as she slowly padded forward, towards the place where a pack member had fallen. Death was hard, but Midnight wasn't a newb to what it felt like to lose someone close, especially a direct family member. Her own father was dead. That's why, when she looked at Eveline's dead body towards her mate and daughters, her little heart went straight out to them.
Poor, sweet Eveline. Everyone dies, eventually, but nobody deserved to die this way. Alone and hurting, a vicious death by a cruel creature. Nature, Midnight both blessed and hated it.
Eyelle seemed to be taking it the hardest, but Crossbones had only just gotten to the scene. Things would get worse.
"I'm sorry," she said, her voice cracking and tears glistening in her eyes. She'd mourn with them, like she had mourned for her own father. Back then, there was only one wolf who had comforted her - Caerwyn. She knew what it meant to have somebody be there for you, so she wouldn't leave the family alone to deal with their pain by themselves. "I am so sorry." She lifted her head and began to sing a sad song for Eveline, a loved family member of Dancing Stars.
