Sparrow loped up toward Alpha rock and paused. His tail was still wagging and his heart was still thumping in his chest as he sat down and waited for Exx. For the second time that day, he paused and scanned the landscape, looking for the lovely black female.
He had come here for a good reason, but he couldn't do anything until Exx was with him. He'd come to ask either Caerwyn or Midnight for permission to have pups. He figured it was a good idea to run things by the alphas first, lest they get in some sort of trouble. He didn't really actually know that that was what he was supposed to do anyway, but he didn't particularly care anyways. Right now, he was so excited and hyper that he couldn't even think that the answer might be a big, fat 'no'. He pulled himself from his racing thoughts and continued to wait for Exx.

Exx's tail was held high like a banner as she trotted slowly through the vast forest. Seeing the edge of the dense woodland, she quickened her pace. She could scent Sparrow, he was near. The quick beating of her heart seemed to drown out all sound, and as she broke free from the forest, she transitioned into a swift lope. She could see him now, his compact flaxen-colored form. She smiled, her ears perked high upon her head. Her heart filled with unbridled joy as she reached the male, sending dozens of excited licks across his face and muzzle. She sat down beside him.
And waited.

Sparrow grinned and nuzzled Exx's cheek before he turned his head to the sky and let out a howl calling for either Caerwyn, Midnight or both. After his howl died down, he returned his head to normal position and smiled over at Exx. He couldn't wait to ask the alphas for permission to have pups. He was just so excited.

Caerwyn was in a bright, breezy mood today. This was one of those brilliant days where he felt no fear of mental attack. That was one good thing about these attacks, a bittersweet victory if you will, that he could tell when one was coming.
He responded to Sparrow's howl with an inkling of what it may be about. He was taking a wild guess, but as he arrived at the scene, he saw Exx with Sparrow and it all fitted nicely. Simply. "Something you'd like to share?" Caerwyn sat down, smiling at them both, speaking knowingly but with a humorous glint in his eye.

Sparrow smiled and nodded at Caerywyn in greetings and smiled at Exx before glancing back to Caerwyn. "Exx and I wanted to know if it would be alright for us to have pups this spring?" he asked while maintaining a respectful posture.
He felt almost sure that the answer would be yes. After all, what reason did the alpha have to say no? Still, there was the possibility that it wouldn't be allowed.

Caerwyn watched Sparrow carefully as he spoke, smiling happily. His mother and father had never told him what joy it brought you when you were Alpha to stand before two wolves and grant them the gift of life. He'd already decided Spring was his favourite season, and he smiled wider.
"That would be fine, Sparrow," Caerwyn nodded slowly, eyes flickering to Exx's features. She was very pretty yes, and he realised that he could have possibly had feelings for her. But he had Midnight now, and things were shaping up as they were supposed to. He smiled politely and then stood. "Anything else?" he asked, but was sure there wasn't, so began to walk away again.

Exx yipped happily at the Alpha's words, feeling as if her feet would leave the ground and she would simply float away on the breeze. She remembered back to the day she met Sparrow, not too long ago, when she had been swooning over Caerwyn and he hadn't returned the attention. She had been quite disappointed, but low and behold, Sparrow showed her that she was worth being noticed. She turned to look at her mate, her emerald orbs filling with glee, and licked his muzzle, but turned back to Caerwyn.
He had an unfamiliar look in his mysterious eyes. She tilted her head, trying to comprehend this expression painted across the male's face. It troubled her slightly, but she shrugged it off, happy that he had allowed them to have pups.
