{Guys, there's nothing to be played right now. They're supposed to be helpless infants, so they don't have much personality at all. When I said "play" I just meant that Zoe is the one who is going to have to mention them around Crystal and stuff.}
Frosty was glad to see Roan. He remembered that boy; well-behaved, kind, smart. So he smiled warmly and gladly scooched his look-alike son in front of him, which helped to take the pup's mind a bit off of the sting. "Fine day, Roan. This is Kabuto. His sister, Gwenevere, is with her mother right now." His tail thumped against the ground as he smiled proudly. He guessed Roan hadn't found himself a mate yet, judging by how wide awake he looked. The early stages of parenthood weren't all fun and games. But that was all well. Roan was young; Frosty believed in the older, the better.

Toboe's eyes brightened up. One, he got to talk about Eyelle without the subject being a real downer. Two, maybe Haine could cook something up after all, without it risking anything. Toboe didn't have a lot to lose. So he started talking fast, life coming back into him as he did so. "Ohh, Eyelle isn't like any other. She's got this dazzling smile, just looking into her eyes when she grins makes me forget what we had just been talking about." He looked like he was going to start bouncing off the ground, but stay put. "She's always eager to help others. She strong and smart and better than me in every way. She's happy like me, except that she's better than a klutzy pup.... Well... She used to be happy. She's lonely right now, I think. Hurting. I want to help her, but I don't know if there's anything I can do."
He rotated his jaw a few times as his enthusiasm started to die down, and he tried to plead for some sort of encouragment, idea, anything, with his dark blue eyes. "What do you think? What should I do, Haine?"

Haine was certainly giving charm to his ideas, and Toboe considered it for a moment. Was that really the way into Eyelle's heart?
Heck no. No way. Almost as soon as he considered Haine's idea, Toboe drew his head back almost as if he had bitten into a rotten crow. Toboe was stupid half of the time, but he wouldn't be stupid this time. No way, Jose... "What if I hurt Eyelle by doing that? If that's the way into her heart, I don't want it to be that way!" He shook his head at Haine, politely, and looked a bit confused. Females were just so... Obnoxiously mysterious. "Thanks for trying to help me, but... Is there another way? Any other way?" he asked, trying to keep his tone a notch above desperate. "Urrghhh... I'm bad at this stuff." He chuckled half-heartedly.

Once again it got a little too personal for Toboe, and he cringed immediately. Another sore subject - actually, quite contrary, it was a happy subject, but he had chosen to let it go for now. Time was needed. Still, it did hurt... To see her walk away with such pain on her pretty, brown face. "Err... I don't, I don't think that's a good idea. Eyelle's not that type of female." He looked up at Haine with unsure eyes; maybe Eyelle was that type and maybe she wanted that from him after all? Toboe knew nothing much about the game of love except when he knew that he was in it. "Well... You're the expert, I guess..."

Toboe watched Haine's face curiously as he spoke. He never looked at things like that; the way Haine was talking about females it almost made them sound clueless. Or maybe Haine was just really, really talented. When he brought Jasmyne into the picture, it naturally made him think of Eyelle, and his heart ached a bit. "I see what you're talking about. I could use some fun these days; maybe I should stick around you for a while and observe the master in action?" Not that he really wanted to be a flirt; Toboe just needed something to take his mind off of things. And he could use a friend, too, he realized.

Toboe had heard that one before. He certainly didn't take that point of view however, and tried not to give Haine a dirty. Instead he tried to just look uncertain. "Well, I'll tell you one thing: they're not afraid to ruin someone's life. They were once a part of our family, but..." He gaze was cast down to the ground and furrowed his brows. "Well, you know the story, I guess." The pain really wasn't there in the beginning, but lately Toboe had started to feel an ache whenever he thought about Xaka, his own father's brother.
"So, Haine," Toboe said, looking back up with a suddenly more happy demeanor. "I've never been good at flirting. How do you do it so well?"

Since Crystal decided to have some individual time with each pup, she left today with Gwenevere and left Kabuto up to Frosty. So the proud father, although slightly worred - the pup will probably get hungry in a little while, what if Crystal isn't back in time? - took Kabuto near the lake, meanwhile always making sure that the small, white pup stayed a good distance away from the water.
Frosty watched as Kabuto pounced through the patches of grass, which had grown astromically since the time the lake was first dug out. The little guy couldn't talk yet, but Frosty pointed out everything he could and described it all to his third son, making sure his own enunciation was crisp and clear.
He sighed as he studied his baby. Frosty could tell that this one was going to look very much like himself, and although it made him very, very proud, and it almost made him slightly edgy, as if he was remembering some of his own childhood when he looked Kabuto. He realized that was the case after he started taking glances over his shoulder, expecting a bright red wolf come stalking angrily towards him. It made old Frosty shiver. But when Kabuto squeaked a painful noise, Frosty looked closely at the albino pup, and realized that he had been stung on the nose by a nasty wasp. He frowned and carefully shoulder his way in front of the helpless bundle, crouching down to study Kabuto's wet nose. It didn't look too bad, but wasp stings were painful. So Frosty spent the next few minutes slowly caressing the tender wound with his pink tongue, hoping to soothe the pain away.
In the back of his head, he realized that wolves should be coming around here fairly soon; it was sunhigh, the hottest time of day, and also the thirstiest.

Sukalina caught Haine's eye and raised a brow. He was starting to sound like a mysterious Romeo, and the young femme watched, amused, as Jasmyne started to really play along. She couldn't really tell, but when Jasmyne circled Haine, Sukalina was sure she saw the strain in his body. How cute.
"A battle scar, Haine?" she asked, catching sight of the healed lesion down his face. "I never knew you were a survivor of a bear attack!" She tilted her head, frowning slightly, but she yearned to hear the story. Hopefully she wouldn't be interrupting anything, however, and she looked over at Jasmyne almost as if she was unsure of what the younger female would think.
{kind of a crappy post, sorry!}

Toboe frowned a bit, thinking about what Haine said. It was true that he was happy, a lot. Even his father often commented on his enthused personality. For a third time, though, he shrugged away the thoughts and just focused on the next part of the conversation. "Not one female, huh?" he asked with a smaller smile. "I see. Makes sense. Life's not all about pups and mates, anyway, so as long as you're happy, it's whatever. Right?" Hm. He felt like he was making sense, but he also felt like he was just rambling about nothing. So he turned the conversation again. "The only bad thing about this mountain is that I can see the tips of Falling Moon from here. What bad memories."

Not so long ago, Toboe would have eagerly defended himself with a loud voice and extremely confident words. But right now, the tan male felt too calm to do anything but shrug. Then he realized stupidly that Haine wouldn't have seen him shrug since his eyes were closed, so he looked out at the horizon and replied out loud with a emotionless voice. "No, I didn't. I don't think I was ready to take care of her, anyway." So it all worked out, he told himself, forcing a smile on is face as he glanced back at Haine. "Everybody knows that I'm still just a clumsy pup." He shrugged again, looking up at the same clouds that Haine had been focused on. "But when I'm up here, at this mountain, I don't really care."
"So... I take it you're not a fan of pups or something?" he asked politely, trying to change the subject a little bit at a time.

Frosty could hear his family in the distance, their cute little speculative voices, and a warm feeling washed through his body as he slowly padded foward, taking the easiest route so as not to strain his muscles too much. It was a new year, and he was starting to feel the edges of old age. He wondered how much worse it would be next Spring. The closer he was to approaching his family, the more his ears perked up in slight alarm. He heard another all too familiar voice, a voice that, when he last encountered, had cut through a piece of his heart like the tooth of a bear. It stopped him in his tracks, and for a moment he felt like he wasn't ready to face his eldest daughter, not now. What would she think of seeing him, either? Frosty didn't want Gwenevere and Kabuto to know of the family division. He was detirmined to make sure his two new pups felt like they were in a loving family - not smothering.
He wondered how stiff and wary he looked as he finally sliced the distance between him and his mate, and Sapphire, standing a couple of feet farther away than usual. "Crystal, pups. Sapphire," he greeted with a heartfelt voice. He eyed Sapphire with his own dark sapphires.

Toboe nodded in agreement to Haine's words, but mostly just to be polite. Honestly he had never really noticed much about the other females, except for Eyelle. And even then she hadn't been around very much. His tongue pressed against the back of his teeth until the muscle grew fatigued. "For me? It's been dull, I think, too." He let out a long sigh that he had been holding in for a while, and starting pawing at a small pebble.
